SHOW DETAILS

Venue Capacity
The Basement has a capacity of 201 standing, 150 seated. Other venues at DMSC have different capacities, please inquire for more information on those venues.

Load-in / parking
Load-in to the Basement is at the corner of 9th and Cherry, underneath the Viaduct and into the lobby of the Kum & Go Theater (here’s a map). If loading in during a theater performance, please try to keep noise to a minimum so as to not interrupt the performance.

Do not leave your car underneath the Viaduct in front of the Theater. Parking is available directly south of the Theater on Cherry Street; otherwise, all metered parking is free after 6pm and on weekends, and the Wells Fargo parking garage opposite the Viaduct from the Social Club is free after 5pm and on weekends.

If you have a large bus / trailer, please contact the Technical Director to make alternate arrangements.

Marketing
All events will be listed on desmoinessocialclub.org and included in newsletter event listings. As well, events will be featured on the website’s “this week” and “happening today” pages for the week and day, respectively, of the event, and events will be submitted to the online calendar of the Des Moines Register. Unless other arrangements are made, it is up to the performer to create a poster / any other printed materials for their upcoming show. DMSC staff will hang posters around the campus if emailed print-ready to our Marketing Coordinator or delivered to the Des Moines Social Club attn.: Program Manager. All posters must include the Des Moines Social Club logo, which you can download here.

Same day events

Due to the nature of the space, other events may be happening in adjacent venues, and we ask you to be respectful of those events, especially staying aware of sound before and after your event. Our calendar is the best resource to see what else is happening the day of your event, and if your load-in / sound check time seems inadequate or strange, it’s probably due to another event happening where sound bleed could be a problem. Should the times we give you not work, please email the Program Manager with your concerns and we will do our best to work with you. That being said, we host a variety of events on any given day, so your understanding and willingness to be flexible is very much appreciated.
