About

Since 2007 the Des Moines Social Club has provided thought-provoking theater, classes for people of all ages, promotion for local artists, and a recruiting tool for the many businesses in Downtown Des Moines. 2012 is going to be no different in the unique and exciting programs we will offer to the community.  Our events reach over 100,000 people in the Greater Des Moines area through attendance and marketing and we hope you will choose to be a part of it.  We look forward to working with you this year and invite you to be a part of the dynamic programming DMSC has to offer. -Zachary Mannheimer, Executive Director

Our Core Values and Beliefs

The Des Moines Social Club vision is to build premier arts institutions that foster social change and revitalize cities throughout the world.

DMSC achieves this vision by:

  • Presenting multiple events weekly that play to opposite types of audiences
  • Keeping our events affordable, accessible and engaging
  • Being a community venue for anyone in the community to rent out at a low cost for any function, artistic and non-artistic alike
  • Keeping a focus on our local artists
  • Working hand-in-hand with local businesses to bridge the gap between the Corporate and Artistic worlds
  • Partnering to focus on the retention and recruitment of young people to support job and community growth
  • Bridging the philanthropic gap between our city’s statesmen and young professionals
  • Supporting the entrepreneurial movement in Des Moines

Values

Responsibility – We will provide a space and programming that fulfills the needs of the community.

Artistically Vital – We will provide as many art forms at the highest possible quality while remaining affordable.

Entrepreneurial – We will continue to find and create innovative programs, events and funding streams.

Adaptable – We will continue to respond creatively to the constantly evolving needs, demands and opportunities of our environment.

Sustainable – We will continue to strive for financial stability that will allow us to remain an iconic cultural player for generations.

Physical Space – We will strive to be the physical space to participate in the local arts scene.

Diversity and Community Building – We will continue to provide and create a variety of programming to connect diverse audiences to each other.

Innovative – We will continue to push boundaries in order to be a catalyst for the new ideas in the arts and social profit sector
