The Scriptease Writing Workshop
In an expansion of its popular and exciting Scriptease play reading series, and as an initiative to nurture state and regional playwrights and screenwriters, Iowa Stage is launching the Scriptease Writing Workshop. This workshop will offer a series of courses to area writers to help hone their skills and bring their scripts to fruition. This first four-week workshop will cover basic tenets of dramatic storytelling. No matter whether you write for the stage or the screen, these building blocks are essential to an understanding of dramatic structure. This course will offer opportunities to examine these basics of the form and to implement them in the creation of the outline for a new dramatic work. As time permits, students will also draft scenes and have the opportunity to hear those scenes read aloud in class.
