Through animal assisted activities (AAA) and animal assisted therapy (AAT), handlers and their pet provide comfort, happiness, emotional support, stress relief & management and, companionship to people of all ages . Therapy animals visit individuals in nursing care facilities, hospice, schools, hospitals, rehabilitation facilities and more. As more and more care facilities are realizing the wonderful benefits that a therapy team can offer, it is essential teams are well-prepared, qualified and certified. This class is designed to teach and practice the necessary skills a therapy dog team must possess. The class will prepare teams for taking and passing any therapy dog certification test (Love On A Leash, Pet Partners, TDI, Therapy Dog Inc., etc.). At the completion of the class, teams are also eligible to begin the process of certifying with Love On A Leash, a therapy animal non-profit.
