Private Passage: Theater Production
“Private Passage” is a play by Louise Bylicki and James Serpento that explores some of the issues around women’s reproductive rights. Playbill described it as “Magical and mercilessly honest,” telling the story of a woman whose conflicted feelings about her surprise pregnancy are haunted by her own family’s turbulent history. Song, dance, and even absurd comedy are woven into a wrenching realistic drama about the choices – and lack thereof – that face humanity in one of the most powerful and controversial issues of our time. Described as “a powerful piece of political theatre” in the Chicago Reader.
The play is being produced by Kingman Row Entertainment, in association with Iowa Stage Theatre Company’s Second Stage. Producer is Kathy Hellstern, director is James Serpento, lighting design is by Dakota Sommer, and sound design is by Joshua Jepsen. The cast is Heidi Bibler, Maggie Jane, Jennifer K.D. Hughes, DeShana Langford, Eric Olson, Michael Tallman, and John Audlehelm.
