The DMSC Writers’ Workshop is intended for anyone with an interest in fiction writing (with no prior experience necessary). This course teaches you how to develop your ideas and reflect on the writing and editing processes. Throughout the six-week course, you will share your work with like-minded writers, discuss published work and generate new content through in-class writing prompts. Course discussion will center on the writing craft techniques such as: dialogue, narrative tension, establishing place/setting, and character development.

Travis Scott is a longtime Workshop participant and facilitator. Over the past 10 years, he has workshopped and studied with such renowned writers as Tim O’Brien, Robert Stone, George Saunders, Ethan Canin and others; while pursuing his MFA in Creative Writing at The University of Iowa and Texas State University. His fiction work has appeared in literary multiple journals, his professional work has appeared in various national ad campaigns. He has taught composition and workshop course in a variety of facets. Professionally, he is a long-time advertising writer in the public relations and copy disciplines.
