Three time Grammy nominee for “Best Instrumental Jazz Solo,” Donny McCaslin was raised in Santa Cruz, California. Donny and his band are featured on the new David Bowie recording “Blackstar” released in January, 2016 which has garnered significant world wide acclaim since it’s release. Donny was also the featured soloist on the David Bowie single “Sue” in 2014. He won the Downbeat critics’ poll for rising star in 2008 & 2009 and received a Chamber Music of America new works grant in 2006.
Jason Lindner – Keys
Brooklyn-native Jason Lindner is a child-prodigy pianist who’s recent focus has been on synths and electronic keyboards. The leader of the acclaimed trail-blazing electro-groove trio NOW VS. NOW is also the keyboardist-synthesist on David Bowie’s Blackstar album. Lindner was Meshell Ndegeocello’s keyboard man and briefly Lauryn Hill’s MD and has performed with many greats of jazz as well, including the legendary Roy Haynes.
Tim Lefebvre – Elec bass
Rocketing between New York and Los Angeles, Tim Lefebvre is quickly carving out a bold and progressive vision of what a contemporary bassist can and should be. Fashioning a leadership role in avant-garde jazz and funk circles, Tim is also a capable and reliable sideman routinely called upon by today’s leading innovators from across the musical spectrum including: Tedeschi Trucks Band (his full-time gig), Bryan Adams, Chris Botti, Toto, Sting, Uri Caine, Dave Binney, Donny McCaslin, Mark Giuliana and Donald Fagen.
Tim’s career began to skyrocket when he subbed in Saturday Night Live’s house band, quickly catching the eye of television and film executives, soon landing playing and writing roles for shows such as “The Sopranos,” “30 Rock,” “The Apprentice,” and “The Late Show with David Letterman.”
Nate Wood – Drums
Multi-instrumentalist Nate Wood has been making music for most of his life in almost every genre. Nate graduated from the California Institute of the Arts, where he studied drums, bass and guitar with Jazz luminaries Charlie Haden and Joe Labarbara.
He is a founding member of the Grammy nominated group Kneebody, and he has toured the world many times over with pop/rock band The Calling and he has performed and/or recorded with artists including George Harrison, Wayne Krantz, Tigran, Donny McCaslin, John Tesh, Chaka Khan, and Sting.
