Each October the organizers of Des Moines area independent stand up comedy showcases host the Beast Village Comedy Festival to celebrate the craft of stand up comedy.  The annual festival hosts stand up comics from across the country for a weekend of shows and laughter.  This year we are proud to announce the 4th Annual Beast Village Comedy Festival October 5th-October 7th, 2017!

Locally produced and funded by grassroots efforts and area business, this year’s festival will host 50 comics at The Des Moines Social Club and Felix and Oscar’s.

Headlining this year’s Beast Village Comedy Festival is a rising star in comedy, Myq Kaplan.  Myq has appeared on Last Comic Standing, America’s Got Talent, The Tonight Show, Conan, Letterman, Late Night with Seth Myers and his Netflix special, “Small, Dork, and Handsome.”

The Beast Village Comedy Festival is committed to celebrating the craft of standup, to diversity in the voices represented in that craft, to building Iowa’s performing arts scene, and of course to making people laugh.

Beast Village aims to bring the very best and sharpest rising stars to a place they might never otherwise stop, and treat them to enthusiastic crowds, surprisingly hip neighborhoods, characteristic Midwestern politeness, and an astonishing local gourmet ‘junk’ food culture. The festival is as much about stand up comedy as it is about Des Moines.

This year’s Beast Village Comedy Festival is sponsored by The Des Moines Social Club, Felix and Oscar’s, Black Cat Ice Cream, Underground Comedy, Voodoo Daddies, Tacopocalypse, and Capes Kafe.
