Saturday, September 20 2014 • 3:00 pm - 5:15 pm • Des Moines Social Club Headquarters
In celebration of their 18th year serving Central Iowa, Elizabeth and William Terrell of the Iowa Acupuncture Clinic are excited to begin seasonal events at the Des Moines Social Club.  This collaboration with the DMSC will seek to expand the holistic health and knowledge of metro residents.  Each of the seasons will feature a lecture on how to practice healthy living in that season in conjunction with the opportunity for Community Acupuncture treatments.  Attend either or both of these events to prepare yourself for the uniqueness of each Iowa season.
Asian Medical Wisdom teaches us that each season has specific qualities and effects on our body and mind.  Fall is a beautiful and favored time of year due to the crisp air, beautiful foliage and deepening colors of the sky.  It is also a time of release and the return to focus on our interior emotions and lives.  Not as stark as Winter, it nonetheless is quieting and soothing.  This is a great time of year for organization and finishing tasks.  With a cornucopia of fresh harvests, our culture celebrates with social gatherings and food preparation for the upcoming winter.  All of these aspects of fall combine to help our bodies build a strong immune system, crucial in dealing with the long indoor time and exposure to pathogens that cold weather brings.
Fall Healthy Living Lecture
The hour long Fall Healthy Living lecture is presented by William Terrell.  He will discuss the uniqueness of the Fall season and provide advice and guidelines for healthy living during this time of year.   Recipes, exercises and meditation will be discussed.
Community Acupuncture Session
During the Community Acupuncture Session, Elizabeth & William will be providing a season-specific group acupuncture treatment.  Unlike private session acupuncture treatments, community acupuncture creates a shared healing experience for the participants.  For the Fall Acupuncture Treatment, Elizabeth will be focusing on the meridians that strengthen the Lungs and Large Intestine, facilitate the detoxing of the Liver and harmonizing of the digestive system.  Expect to feel refreshed and ready for the crisp fall weather!
