Chuck leads DMSC with passion and experience. Prior to joining the DMSC team, Chuck worked at a regional bank holding company located in Eastern Iowa. He also served as president of the Maquoketa Betterment Corp (a local non-profit aimed at community revitalization and engagement). He served one year on the City Council and served as a board member of the Maquoketa Art Experience (an organization much like the Des Moines Social Club).
He brings 25+ years of corporate, non-profit and community building and revitalization experience with him. Chuck has a unique appreciation of the arts and understands that a celebration of the many disciplines provides opportunities to build vibrant communities.
Katie Ortman, Program & Outreach Director
Katie is our OG Intern-turned-Staffer. As a student at Drake, she proved to us that we would be completely lost without her, and thus–we were forced to hire her. Katie manages all of our interns and volunteers, visual art and the Viaduct Gallery, the 48 Hour Film Project and other film programming, and anything else if you ask nicely.
Pete Bold, Hospitality Director
Pete brings over 20 years of experience to our Culinary and Concessions programs. His love of the food and beverage industry paired with his passion for music and the arts makes him the perfect fit for the Social Club. Pete is always looking for creative ways to make the Club more “hospitable.” Luckily for the rest of the staff, this usually includes samples and lots of laughs.
Monica de Melo Dreasher is excited to be with the Des Moines Social Club as of July 2017! Since graduating from Iowa State University with a degree in Women’s and Gender Studies, she has worked with mission-based nonprofit and government organizations in Iowa to build capacity and develop sustainable programing. She served terms of service as an AmeriCorps VISTA member with the Cedar Rapids Public Library and the Iowa Commission on Volunteer Service. Monica is passionate about making arts and cultural spaces in Des Moines accessible to all members of the community, and in her free time enjoys hiking with her dog, Netflix, and video games.
Josh Parks Davis brings years of industry knowledge to the DMSC team with experience as a self-employed touring musician and talent buyer for several venues around the Greater Des Moines area. His current music project is Parks Davis & the Palavers and previous projects include Bright Giant and The Josh Davis Band. In all, he’s released 5 full length albums of original music, 2 EPs, and is currently finishing up record number 8 (the Palavers debut). In addition, Josh owns and manages his own artist/venue booking agency called Banned Booking, and books tours for a roster of some of the best bands in Iowa and beyond. Among many accomplishments, Josh has defeated the campaign and all major bosses in Dark Souls I-III and the lesser known Demons Souls.
Adrienne Fay, Venue Coordinator
Adrienne is yet another intern-turned-staffer! Starting as our Venue Intern while going to Iowa State University, she kept our Venue Manager from blowing her lid so we decided to keep her. Graduating with a Marketing major and an Event Management minor she thought it was time to make the long- 30 minute- trip back to her hometown and stay for awhile. At DMSC she helps rent our amazing spaces and plan our special events. When she’s not at DMSC you can find her with a coffee in her hand binge watching Shameless or any other mind-numbing Netflix show she can find.
After almost two years of running sound at the Social Club, Ryan is stepping up to the position of Technical Director in 2017. Ryan is a performing musician and lifetime lover of music, and his experiences have taught him just how greatly artists and audiences are impacted by a perfectly executed event. When he isn’t at the Social Club, Ryan spends his time playing in the band Charlemagne, teaching guitar lessons, and long boarding.
Katie is the newest member to the Des Moines Social Club team! After graduating from Simpson College with degrees in English, Theatre, and Women’s & Gender Studies, Katie comes to the Social Club with over six years’ experience in nonprofit marketing. She considers herself a master communicator, crusader for the arts and a passionate non-profit advocate. Outside the Social Club, you can find her nose in a book, attempting to teach her dog to fetch, or taking a crack at the latest recipe from Pinterest.
