Pete De Kock, Executive Director

Pete joined the Social Club as Executive Director in 2015.  He leads the DMSC team with specific responsibilities around org strategy, team building, fundraising, community partnerships, and finances. He is a graduate of Grinnell College and Harvard University, where he studied political and social ethics.  After completing his degrees, Pete became increasingly committed to making his conscience public and building community.  He transitioned to the political sphere, spending several years working on congressional campaigns and for the U.S. House of Representatives.  Prior to joining DMSC he was Vice President of Operations and Communications for IFYC, a Chicago-based nonprofit helping colleges and universities do excellent religious diversity work.  Pete loves cycling, rock and roll, and barbecue, but his true love is his family.  He and his partner Jen have two sons, Robert Rex and Peter James. Katie Ortman, Fundraising & Volunteer Manager
Katie is our OG Intern-turned-Staffer. As a student at Drake, she proved to us that we would be completely lost without her, and thus–we were forced to hire her. Katie wears at least 5 different hats at work each day and somehow still looks super stylish. (She’s that Madewell/Anthro/Free People type.) Katie manages all of our interns and volunteers, she assists with development and grant-writing, and she is the resident Altru expert (meaning she answers endless queries from the rest of the staff who don’t full understand how to use Altru).

 

 

 


Pete BoldHospitality Director
Pete brings over 20 years of experience to our Culinary and Concessions’ programs. His love of the food and beverage industry paired with his passion for music and the arts makes him the perfect fit for the Social Club. Pete is always looking for creative ways to make the Club more “hospitable.” Luckily for the rest of the staff, this usually includes samples and lots of laughs.

While not particularly accustomed to writing in the third person, Dani always did like a challenge. Coming from humble beginnings as a lowly volunteer, she obnoxiously signed-up for every shift she could until they finally decided she was worth paying to keep around. While having actually graduated with two bachelor degrees from Central Washington University, she never quite knew what she wanted to do with her life, but from toy stores to children museums, she discovered that working with kids was ultimately her destiny. Being a non-profit that rewards hard work, the Social Club recognized this about Dani and when an opportunity opened up in the education department they gave her a chance to prove her strengths. From there she has worked to her current title and cannot wait to continue to contribute to this fun and innovative non-profit.

Since graduating with two degrees from Simpson College, Priscilla has completed her CPA and helped multiple small businesses become great ones. Finally, she found her home here at the DMSC and is bringing our accounting game up a notch. She brings a whole new meaning to the word organization and can’t wait to work her magic here at the DMSC. Priscilla and her husband have three kids, Hunter, Ryleigh and Peyton and spend any free time they have spending time with them.

After graduating from the University of Northern Iowa (go Panthers) with a degree in Political Communications she traveled the country for the love of politics.

Now that she’s taking a much needed break, she loves having a home at the Des Moines Social Club! She has enjoyed working on all types of events, big and small, throughout Des Moines and is happy to bring that vivacious energy to the Social Club by executing kickass events from BASH to concerts to birthday parties *insert finger gun motion*. She hopes to work with you on your next event.

Adrienne Fay DMSCAdrienne Fay, Venue Associate

Adrienne is yet another intern-turned-staffer! Starting as our Venue Intern while going to Iowa State University, she kept Kristen from blowing her lid so we decided to keep her. Graduating with a Marketing major and an Event Management minor she thought it was time to make the long- 30 minute- trip back to her hometown and stay for awhile. At DMSC she works side by side with Kristen helping to rent our amazing spaces and plan our special events. When she’s not at DMSC you can find her with a coffee in her hand binge watching Shameless or any other mind-numbing Netflix show she can find.

 

 

 


SONY DSCRyan Lombard, Technical Director

After almost two years of running sound at the Social Club, Ryan is stepping up to the position of Technical Director in 2017. Ryan is a performing musician and lifetime lover of music, and his experiences have taught him just how greatly artists and audiences are impacted by a perfectly executed event.  When he isn’t at the Social Club, Ryan spends his time playing in the band Charlemagne, teaching guitar lessons, and long boarding.
